The Boulevard
'The Boulevard' offers learners and intermediates an easy and fun skiing or snowboarding experience from the top of the chairlift down to the base facilities. The chairlift also provides access to a wide variety of slopes suitably challenging for experts and exciting for intermediates.
A very gentle slope, serviced by a snow mat, is ideal for children and beginners. The platter lift is more exciting for the developing beginner.
"Mountain Goats" Ski School
The Ohau 'Mountain Goats' ski school programme for the young beginners, teaches skiing with techniques such as gorilla hops, the pizza man and a jelly bean jar. Mountain safety is taught as well as how to ride lifts and care for equipment.
Ohau, as part of the Ohau Range in the Main Divide, is endowed with reliable snowfall and fine weather. Ohau is serviced by a double chairlift, a platter and a snow mat. The main trails are groomed regularly.
Location
Ohau Ski Area is 320 km (3? hours) south of Christchurch and 275 kilometres (3 hours) north of Dunedin. Turn off Main Highway 8 between Twizel and Omarama. The Lake Ohau Lodge, situated at the mountain base, is 42km (30 minutes) from Twizel and Omarama. The skifield is only 9.6km (15 minutes) from the Lodge via a good metal access road.
